Monday is the service for my father. He had chosen the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery as his final resting place. It is a beautiful location on a hillside near the Missouri River. Monsignor performs a short series of prayers which are followed by the Navy honor guard and a 21 gun salute. We process to the gravesite in the bright sunshine under blue skies. Following additional prayers, my brother gently places the urn containing Dad's remains in the ground. Rest In Peace Dad, you are missed. During the luncheon at Peacock Alley we are able to reminisce and tell fun stories. Just a few hours later we are once again gathered, this time for dinner at cousin Roger and Kim's. Their beautiful home on acres of property has part of McDowell dam lake at the back and a neighbor who grazes buffalo on one side. Roger and Kim are wonderful hosts and once again everyone contributes a dish to the meal.
